Marinara Sauce

  1. Heat olive oil in a 2-quart saucepan. Once hot, cook chopped onion until tender and then add minced garlic. Cook for one more minute.
  2. Stir in basil, salt, and sugar and cook for another minute. Then add the tomato paste and plumb tomatoes. Watch your heat, lower as not to burn.
  3. Cook for about 20 minutes or until thickened. All the while continuing to stir.
