Charlie's Tiramisu

Cookware
- medium saucepan
- 7x11 inch dish
Ingredients
- 6 egg yolks
- 3/4 cups white sugar
- 2/3 cups milk
- 1 1/4 cups heavy cream
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 lbs mascarpone cheese
- 1/4 cups espresso
- 2 tbsp black sambuca
- 6 oz package ladyfingers
- 1 tbsp cocoa
Instructions
Use half the sambuca... it's strong
Step 1
In a medium saucepan, whisk together egg yolks and white sugar until well blended.
Step 2
Whisk in milk and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture boils.
Step 3
Boil gently for 1 minute, remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.
Step 4
Cover tightly and chill in refrigerator 1 hour.
Step 5
In a medium bowl, beat heavy cream with vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
Step 6
Whisk mascarpone cheese into yolk mixture until smooth.
Step 7
In a small bowl, combine espresso and black sambuca. Split ladyfingers in half lengthwise and drizzle with coffee mixture.
Step 8
Arrange half of soaked ladyfingers in bottom of a 7x11 inch dish. Spread half of mascarpone mixture over ladyfingers, then half of whipped cream over that. Repeat layers and sprinkle with cocoa.
Step 9
Cover and refrigerate 4-6 hours, until set.
