Nanny Ruth's Mille Feuilles
by Ruth McCarthy
Ingredients
- 1 box vanilla pudding (not the instant, the one that is cooked)
- 2 cups whipping cream
- 1 large box graham crackers
- 3 cups icing sugar
- 4 tbsp milk
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 squares semi sweet chocolate
- 1 tbsp butter
Recipe
- Cook the vanilla pudding as per the instructions and let cool.
- While the pudding is cooling whip the whipping cream.
- Now place a layer of graham crackers on the bottom of a 9x13 lasagna pan. Cover the crackers with the cooled pudding. Now cover the pudding with the whipped cream. Finally carefully place another layer of graham crackers on top of the whipped cream. Cover with plastic wrap making sure the plastic is not touching and place in the fridge for an hour.
- Just before the hour is up combine the icing sugar, milk and vanilla extract and mix till smooth. Cover with plastic wrap again making sure the plastic is not touching and place in the fridge for another hour.
- Just before the hour is up melt the semi sweet chocolate and the butter. Let cool. Now create a pattern using your dark glaze. You will most likely have too much dark glaze so do not feel you have to use it all.
- Cover with plastic wrap again making sure the plastic is not touching and place in the fridge for a least 2 more hours. To be honest this dessert is best made the night before.
